Tensioned Fabric Structures

Tensioned Fabric Structures
Pink creates tensioned fabric structures for architectural interiors that range from eye-popping to serene—including room dividers, ceiling treatments, and public art. Depending on the needs of the project, the framing components range from polycarbonate to aluminum, and the fabrics are typically a poly-spandex blend. The company will work to accommodate any specified frame and fabric material. More than an artful presence, these structures can reduce material use in almost any application from architectural dividers to store displays, and can contribute to reduced impacts from remodeling churn. Elite EX

Elite EX
The Breezair Elite EX is an evaporative cooler appropriate for conditioned spaces up to 2,000 square feet. The system features advanced water conservation and management, monitoring the mineral content of the water and adjusting the supply to reduce both water use and cleaning requirements as compared to a standard continuous-bleed system. The cooler drains automatically when not in use, allowing the pads to dry out, minimizing the risk of mold. Evaporative coolers, common in dry climates, use no CFCs, and require far less electricity—as much as 80 percent less—than compressor-based air conditioners. SunRise 850, 1050, and 1250

SunRise 850, 1050, and 1250
SunRise solar-powered attic ventilation fans come in three models, named according to the cubic feet per minute (cfm) of airflow they can produce: the SunRise 850, SunRise 1050, and SunRise 1250. The 850 cfm unit has an 11-watt solar panel built into the cover; the other two require 15 and 20 watts, respectively. They work the hardest when ventilation is most needed, and they’re easier and cheaper to install than hard-wired, motorized fans. They should, of course, be installed with good solar orientation for optimal performance. These fans can be used instead of, or in addition to, ridge or gable vents. CX3000

CX3000
Continental Fan Manufacturing offers the CX3000 air purification system for ducted air distribution systems serving up to 3,000 square feet. It employs an electrostatic MERV-11 filter with carbon, potassium permanganate, and zeolite layers, and photo-catalytic titanium oxide activated by a UV-C light, to filter and destroy a wide variety of airborne pollutants, including odors, germs, chemicals, and allergens. Power consumption is 45 watts. Service lights indicate when it’s time to change the filter (every six months) and UV light (annually). NightBreeze ventilation cooling system

NightBreeze
The NightBreeze ventilation cooling system from Davis Energy Group works with the mechanical system of a home or appropriate commercial space to provide not only fresh-air ventilation, but also ventilation cooling with pre-filtered night air. The system does the job with a special damper, an advanced thermostat, sensors, and a highly efficient air handler. During off-peak hours, it quietly circulates cool night air using the efficient, variable-speed, electronically commutated motor (ECM). The air’s cooling energy gets stored in the building’s thermal mass; depending on the climate, daytime compressor-based air conditioning can be reduced or even eliminated. The system is intended for new construction. Davis Energy Group; Davis, Calif. www.davisenergy.com; 530-753-1100.

DynaFuser

DynaFuser
The Titus DynaFuser is a linear slot diffuser for HVAC air outlets that uses a non-motorized, thermal-powered switch to automatically change diffusion patterns when the air distribution system switches between heating and cooling. Using a metal alloy actuator and no external power source, it provides horizontal flow for cooled air, and vertical flow for heated air, providing enhanced comfort, energy savings, and reduced maintenance. The DynaFuser has been tested for a minimum of 10,000 cycles; the standard configuration is a 10-inch plenum height. Titus; Richardson, Tex. www.titus-hvac.com; 972-699-1030.
